Order Description

read Richard Gilmore’s essay “The Dark Sublimity of Chinatown” in your text The Philosophy of Neo-Noir,(Please see the attached) in which he discusses the use and function of counter narratives in neo-noir films. Then watch Anthony Minghella’s 1999 neo-noir film The Talented Mr. Ripley, and write a 2-4 page critical essay in which you compare and contrast Polanski’s use of counter narratives to “disrupt, dislodge, and even subvert” the inevitability of the outcome of the film’s traditional realist main narrative, particularly the patriarchal hierarchical system, with Minghella’s use of counter narratives in The Talented Mr. Ripley to accomplish the same objective.
