In framing the Constitution, political factions had competing visions for the United States. Briefly compare and contrast the viewpoints of the Federalists and Anti-Federalists. Then, discuss how the framers of the Constitution balanced the competing claims of local self-government and national authority. In particular, how did they resolve conflicts between small states and large states, as well as sectional interests between north and south?
