Evidence-Based Factsheet Assignment
Order Description
You should aim to find a minimum of five good references for each factsheet. “Good” means the
references are from peer-reviewed journals and evidence-based guidelines, such as those available
at the databases listed below. This means that your five “good” references should NOT come from
textbooks or non-peer-reviewed Internet websites/magazines. All types of research articles (such as
review articles, meta-analyses, randomized controlled trials, epidemiological studies, cohort
studies, etc.) are acceptable references as long as they are from peer-reviewed sources.
**Your evidence-based factsheet should address 2 main questions:
(1) What evidence is available that links the macronutrient with the disease/health outcome?
Example: What evidence links dietary intake of saturated fat and cholesterol with CVD?
(2) What evidence-based guidelines should the patient follow?
Example: Limit foods with saturated fat to <10% total kcal and cholesterol <300 mg/d.
