Knowledge & Concepts Addresses or poses the question or issue in a way that generates ideas based upon a thorough understanding of research methods and process and an ability to be analytical. A thorough understanding of the knowledge base and how evidence is used to inform practice.                              Addresses or poses some part of the question or issue in a descriptive manner that shows limited knowledge and limited understanding of research methods and how evidence informs practice. 2. Structure Produces a coherent assignment and shows a link appropriately to the understanding of EBP and research methods and is concise and specific. Addresses the PCF’s directly and shows a link to the SOP’s.                        The assessment fails to show understanding of EBP and research methods and fails to recognise the key points learnt from the module. No or limited reference to the PCF’s and limited link to the SOP’s. 3. Application to Practice Demonstrate an understanding of what social work is and the skills required for evidence based practice delivery. Reflects on practice in ways that indicate a direct link to importance of research methods.                          Limited links to evidence based and informed practice delivery, is descriptive and fails to show the importance of research methods. 4. Use of Evidence Analyses, reformats and evaluates a wide range of information in an informed manner, making reference to the strengths and limitations of research methods and evidence informing practice. Articulates how evidence (including research) is used to inform and develop practice.                              Reproduces information from a few sources demonstrating some misunderstanding. Makes assertions or decisions that are supported by insufficient evidence or reasoning or there is no justification for selection of a course of action. 5. Values Reflects on how evidence relates to practice in a theoretically and analytically informed manner. A thorough understanding of how evidence and feedback can be used to enhance practice. Demonstrates awareness and application of professionally and ethically sound practice, including recognition of ethical dilemmas or value conflicts.  Demonstrates understanding in applying the PCF’s and SOP’s.                              Describes practice in a way that implies application of theory and evidence, but without explicit reference as to how/why. Limited understanding of how evidence and feedback is used to enhance practice. Demonstrates very little awareness or limited application of ethical, professional and anti-oppressive. Little or no understanding of applying the PCF’s and SOP’s. 6. Use of Literature Evaluates a range of information and resources in an informed manner and demonstrates ability to evaluate research findings to help inform EBP.                         Reproduces information from odd sources demonstrating considerable misunderstanding of how EBP  informs research and practice delivery. 7.  Language and References Produces a coherent argument that is logical and analytical. Maintains a high level of language usage and uses technical words competently, is properly referenced, and edited, and is of the specified length. Demonstrates and maintains a high level of skill in the use of ICT. Demonstrates a competent level of written skills. Complies with the Harvard referencing requirements.                        Some good points made within the context of a broadly incoherent assignment that is based upon very basic models. Some significant errors of syntax, editing or referencing such that meaning is sometimes impaired. Word count deviates significantly from that specified. Poor referencing and does not comply with the Harvard referencing requirements. 8. Skills Demonstrates a competent level of research skills and an ability to follow instructions as defined in the learning outcomes and assignment brief.                              Is unable to demonstrate skills in research enquiry and fails to follow instructions as specified by the assignment brief. A = 70+; B = 60 – 69; C = 50 – 59; D = 40 – 49; F = 30 - 39 with right to resubmit, less than 30 = Fail with no right to resubmit. Provide a brief overview of the article which you have chosen 2. Identify the advantages and disadvantages of the key research findings in the article 3. Relate how the article has helped to inform your evidenced based social work practice in preparation for one of your observations Special Instructions When choosing a research article use one which is manageable and specific to your service user group in preparation for one of your direct observation of practice. Ensure that you provide the full reference details of the article and attach it in the appendix. Consider the assignment word count for each of the three elements, so that you have a balance in the word ratios when answering the question. When analysing the advantages and disadvantages look at the research methods in terms of qualitative or quantitative approaches and whether the research is relevant and has validity.
