Q:Beginning in the Etruscan period (c. 300 BCE), portraits took on new meanings based on the Etruscans’
interest in votive sculpture. This interest continued into the Roman period. Choose three painted or sculpted
portraits, and discuss each artist’s approach to the image. What did the portrait communicate about its subject?
