Ethics in Information Technology Paper
- FOCUS OF PAPER:
Research an ethical dilemma in health care-associated information technology.
This may relate to privacy, data mining, handling data breaches, or any other topic you find in information technology with an ethics component. Use the literature to discuss the background of the problem, key points in history that this has had an impact on healthcare, what can be done to rectify the issue, and implications for nursing practice. The paper should be 5-6 pages in length not including the title page and references. APA format required.
- CONTENT GUIDELINES: (85 points)
A. Background: Introduce the topic by providing a brief overview of why this is an ethical issue in information technology. (15 points)
B. Historical perspective of issue impacting healthcare: Describe when and how this topic became an ethical issue in information technology impacting health care. (20 points)
C. Addressing the issue: State the current responses to this issue. Analyze the effectiveness of how the issue is being addressed. (25 points)
D. Implications for nursing practice: Discuss the implications for nursing practice, how nurses or nursing informatic specialists have made any contribution to how the issues has been addressed. (25 points)
- FORMAT GUIDELINES: (15 points)
A. Use the American Psychological Association Publication Manual (APA), 6th ed. (2010) as your guide for paper formatting including margins, font style and size, etc. Headings must be used at the beginning of each of the five sections listed above (see APA manual 3.31 Levels of Heading, p. 113-115).
