Critically examine the statement that the concept of patriarchy 'misses many of the complexities of gendered inequality' (Zajdow 2015, p. 258). - Professor's comment : The first thing to do is to read the relevant sections of Zajdow (2015) around page 258. It will be important to contextualise their statement and tease it out. Those who criticise patriarchy are certainly onto something real which affects the lives of girls and women (and boys and men) every day. But what causes patriarchal relations? Is it all men who are advantaged? I am not denying patriarchal relations but the questions suggests that there is more to gendered inequality than patriarchy, by itself, involves. That is the question!
