Entrepreneurship problem and solution

The goal for this assignment is to discuss a societal problem and articulate your initial idea for a solution to
your social problem. Remember, as a social entrepreneurial idea your solution needs to be financially
sustainable (who is paying you or buying from you?) Your customer to generate revenue might be the
beneficiary, but it could also be someone else.
This assignment most closely follows the ideas in Chapter 1 of your textbook. Make sure you review it
thoroughly before starting this paper, as well as the articles noted in the modules.
Please submit a research paper (APA Format) articulating your solution. Your paper should include a cover
page, 4-7 pages of content, Reference page. Include headings throughout your paper. (see APAstyle.org for
assistance and templates – you do not need an abstract)
You can format your submission as follows:
An introduction highlighting the social issue/problem.
An introduction that highlights the main ideas behind this social issue.
What part of society is the issue intrinsically harmful to? Specifically, who does the issue effect? Who is the
exact beneficiary who is currently suffering? What are the ethical considerations for this specific part of
society?
Provide cited evidence! Do not rely just on your own opinion or thoughts.
Highlight the scope of this issue. Is it local? Regional? National? Worldwide? And, how do you know this?
Provide cited evidence! Do not rely just on your own opinion or thoughts.
What is the size of the issue? Find and cite statistics to support how widespread the issue is in terms of the
number of people affected, monetary impact, or other important outcomes. This will be specific to the issue you
are working with. Present evidence of this as much as possible.
A section explaining your solution (your proposed business solution to the problem). As you will see in the
book, these solution statements are relatively succinct and to the point.
Describe how your solution is in line with the “Screen-Out Criteria” seen on pages 9 and 10. If your solution
does not pass all these criteria, you need a new solution!
A final section highlighting the “Screen-In Criteria” on pages 10 and 11. How does your solution idea match
these criteria?
