o Click 011 "Research Guides" and the11 "Research Guides Homepage" o Select "Nm•sing" a11d then "Charity School of Nursing" o The gray tabs provide useful information to help you locate relevant resources.
• For electronic access: LOLA # (include letter) & mmddyy (or try ddmmyy)
• Renew 011li11e prior to the due date if the title is not requested by someone else.
JOURNALS/ DATABASES:
• The Library provides print & electronic subscriptions
• Access E-resources through the Library home page
• Electronic databases:: groupings of journals that can be searched (CINAHL,
"Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature")
• Some full text links are available as a pdf file -not everything
• Search individual journal titles from a database (EX: American Journal of Nursing, Home Healthcare Now, Minority Nursing, Nursing 2017, Nursing Made Incredibly Easy).
• Digital Object Identifier "doi" -alphanumeric string used for identifying electronic documents retrieved from a database (Ex: doi:10.1016/j.teln.2010.01.006)
SEARCH STRATEGIES:
• Think about :xour conceot or topic
• Use like terms/synonyms/medical terminology
• Think about the type of nursing journal that would contain a useful article
• Start big, then narrow the result with additional search terms o Limiters for the "ADVANCED SEARCH" screen: Time span of 5 years
(enter a date range), Journal Subset: U.S., Publication Type: Journal Article
• Group phrases within quotations EX: "high blood sugar"
• Boolean connectors: AND (limits), OR (expands)
• Use APA citation - click on the title of the article and look for the "cite" tab in CINAHL; select "APA." You can email the APA cite to yourself.
