Reading Response Papers (3 * 10 = 30%)
Over the semester, each of you will submit a total of three typed reaction papers in response to research articles associated with the topics covered in class. For each theory that you choose, e.g., selective attention, find and choose ONE peer-reviewed research article from outside the reading list of this course. These articles can come from research journals or book chapters. Each reaction paper should be approximately 2-3 double spaced typed pages (following normal APA font and formatting). In these papers, you should do the following:
• Summarize the theories/concepts tested and findings obtained.
In addition, you should address some of the following questions:
• Is there anything that you found particularly surprising or disappointing?
• How does this theory/research overlap and diverge from others we have discussed (or those we haven’t discussed)?
• Are there any flaws or inconsistencies in the studies and/or arguments being made?
• Are additional questions raised by the theory and/or research results?
• What are the implications (practical or theoretical) of the conclusions reached by the authors?
• What future research is needed in this area?
