Approach this assignment by going through the following four steps:

  1. Identify the compensable factors for the system, including some from each of
    the four categories of skill, effort, responsibility, and working conditions.
  2. Scale these factors, using the examples in Table 8.1 (pp. 276-77) of the textbook as the template.
  3. Weight the factors, and then develop a rating chart as shown in Figure 8.1 (p. 279) of the textbook.
  4. Apply the system to arrive at a total point value for each position, and then arrange the positions in order of
    the point totals, with the lowest at the bottom and highest at the top, using Table 8.2 (p. 280) in the textbook as
    a template.
