The short video "Judy Heumann Fights for People with Disabilities" mentions allies assisting disability activists
during the long 1970s era sit-in that helped raise awareness about disability rights. Clearly, allies acting
ethically and in solidarity with marginalized groups can be a source of affirmation and strength. From the
reading "So You Call Yourself an Ally," describe 1) two of the points mentioned that you think would be the
most personally challenging for you in becoming an ally with members of the disability community; and 2) the
personal and professional benefits that might come from doing so.
