Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders

In current use in the United States is the DSM-5: Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (5th
edition) that was publisher in 2013. The DSM-5 has gone through significant revisions from the previous
edition, the DSM-IV-TR, and if compared to the first/second/third edition it is evident many changes since its
first use. Currently it lists approximately 500 disorders describing criteria for diagnosis, key clinical features,
and related features that are often, but not always, present for each of these.

  1. For this assignment you are to access the DSM-5 in the CCP Library (see instructions in the last pages of
the 'Find a psychology peer reviewed' file) to gather information on a sexual disorder. (pick one from list below).
Using the DSM information as well as your textbook (not all the options are thoroughly covered in your
textbook, some are in other chapters, you might have to do some outside research as to the causes/treatment)
compile a short main post (2 paragraphs; roughly 200-400 words) summarizing your disorder. Your post must
include specifics about the symptoms; possible causes (be sure to show your understanding of different
perspective here by including various causing factors); and likely treatment options. Conclude your post with
the MOST interesting thing you learned about your disorder.
  2. Reference at least ONE source you used in APA style at the end of your main post.
