Developmental Psychology

Developmental Psychology Order Description Students will be asked to develop a “media portfolio” of newspaper and magazine clippings that illustrate concepts in the areas of lifespan development, worth 100 points. Students will choose 8 concepts from the text; EACH FROM A DIFFERENT CHAPTER. This portfolio should include samples from a wide variety of sources, including newspapers, magazines, editorials, advice and medical columns; internet sources may be used. Each clipping should be annotated with its source, relevant concept or chapter, and likely demographics of intended audience. The source for one , and only one, of the concepts must be from a peer reviewed journal article. Portfolios will be evaluated on four major dimensions: 1) relevance of the clippings to the course material, 2) accuracy of descriptions, 3) breadth of coverage (i.e., across a range of course topics), and 4) critique of the mainstream article (in comparison to what we learned in class about the topic). Students may use no more than 2 non-article/reading sources (e.g., tv shows, movies, advertisements, cartoons, etc.), and must use a different source for each concept (i.e., two concepts cannot come from the same newspaper, magazine, tv show, etc.). This assignment must be typed, include a table of contents, have a cover page, and adhere to APA format
