This essay asks you to explore the factors that led to the development of a scandal. Some factors may be political, technological, (media) organizational, journalistic, or cultural. Developments in these fields constitute a broad environment in which the specific scandal unfolds, and it is your task to map out these external factors relevant to your object of inquiry. In the meantime, every scandal follows a specific trajectory. How exactly has this scandal broken out? Which actors (journalists, whistleblowers, victims, opponents, police, etc.) have been crucial to the initial exposure of the said transgression? How? Which actors have played a key role in the escalation and resolution of the scandal? How? In other words, you must pay attention to both external and internal factors that propel the scandal forward.
