DEFENSIVENESS INVENTORY
Order Description
UNIT THREE INTRODUCTION
Unit 3 Intro: Research Topic 2 - Building Intrapersonal Bridges
In Unit 2, we began with “How Do I Build Internal Bridges for Managing Conflict?” We read and discussed areas that are the foundation of our growth as spiritual leaders. Remember that we are all growing in these areas of Conflict Management, a major focus and time commitment in our leadership.
In Unit 3, we go from managing our own internal bridges to coaching others to manage and build intrapersonal bridges within themselves. James 4 states that people often experience conflict due to their desires that battle “within themselves.” In guiding people to “tell the story” we enter into a conflict coaching process to assist others in connecting the external conflict with the conflict that often takes place within one’s self.
Remember the first steps of grace as the Lord comes to each of us to restore or increase our relationship with Him. He always takes first steps. This is our own security with Him. Now we have the strength and grace to reach others. Enjoy this wonderful and strong love (see Psalm 62:11-12) and continue in your peacemaking by coaching others to find peace within themselves.
The first assignment this week is your Research Topic Chapter Study doing research in the texts and making analytical decisions on FIVE of the ten Study Questions that apply to your own conflict situation.
The second assignment is your two Research Topic Threaded Discussions with each discussion requiring one initial post and at least two responses to other students’ initial posts as you interact with others on leadership issues in your own context. Study the Threaded Discussion Model.
The third assignment is your two Research Topic Self-Assessments. These assessments give you the opportunity to reflect on where you think you are. From that point you construct a weekly strategy for your own conflict management growth.
Your ongoing Strategy #2 is the IN THE FIELD Conflict Leader Interview that leads to your media presentation in Unit 5. This is a great opportunity to bring insights from another conflict manager and to see more leaders the others students present. This week schedule the interview and use the questions in the Guide to prepare. Record the interview with written notes or video as you choose.
Please be sure to see the Assignment Instructions and any available Guides for each of these assignments.
