This project asks you to view a documentary film called ?The Debate Team? and analyze the argument
presented by the filmmaker and the construction of the film's argument. Your essay should not be a

the assignment is to identify the components of the argument as discussed in class and analyze the
strengths and weakness of the argument. 1. Identify the proposition presented in the film. 2. What
claim/s are made? 3. Examine the ways in which the films arguments are supported through rhetorical
strategies. 3.1 Are there any fallacies, contradictions, or inconsistencies in the argument? what
are the specifically? 3.2 What is the bias/viewpoint of the filmmaker? 3.3 what is the supporting
evidence is presented? Is it credible? Why? Why not? Be specific. 3.4 How does the structure of the
film help achieve its purpose? how does it hurt it? (does it include the stock issues?, or follow
toulmin model?, etc.) Focus your ideas. Choose sections of the film to analyze do not try and
analyze the entire film. Explain why these scenes are being used to support your analysis (choose
as many as you need to build your argument analysis.) Paper length 3-4 pages formatted in MLA
