To explore the depth of ProQuest field tags, spend some time in the ProQuest LibGuides (Links to an external site.). By clicking a database name and then exploring the search- able fields, you can see how these many databases differ from one another.
Examine two other database to which your library subscribes. Identify whether it has permalinks or whether it doesn't need to have them because the database links will work without a permalink?
Go to your library’s online catalog and pull up any book record that is not in English. Now go to the MARC record view for that book. Can you see variable-length fields that iterate in that record? Which fields are they? Can you see the three-letter fixed field for the language of the book in the record?
