Using the following thesis statement write a 600-word essay: (the story)

- Use MLA heading and page numbering
- Have a creative and pertinent title
- Have author and title in first sentence
- Do not summarize the story
- Quote from the text but not in the thesis paragraph
- You must have thesis statement somewhere in the first paragraph
- Your first/thesis paragraph should also mention the reason/examples you'll use to support your thesis.
- Avoid the funnel approach in the thesis paragraph
- Avoid first person pronouns and second person
- keep verbs in present tense when discussing the storyline
- Don't use any Webster definition
- Remember the author is not the narrator. Say "the narrator" not "O'Connor says."
- This is not a research paper; do not consult secondary sources for help in writing this essay.
