Cooked Video AssignmentDirections:  Watch the video of Michael Pollan discussing his latest book while answering the following questions.  The video can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVyo712BBRk1. The woman who introduces Michael Pollan states one premise of his book- eat food, not too much, mostly plants.  What do you think of this statement?2. What is the problem that farmers deal with when growing the Russet-Burbank potatoes for McDonalds?  How do the farmers solve this problem?  What could be an alternative solution?3. Explain why Michael Pollan says that cooking is good for humans.4. Reflect.  How much cooking does your household do?  Do you make your own bread, yogurt or pasta?  Describe the extent of cooking in your household.5. What is your favorite food?  Do you grow it or cook it?  Does someone you know grow it or cook it for you?6. Microbes are essential for making certain foods.  Pollan describes some of these foods and processes.  Pick one that you find interesting and describe why this stood out to you.7. At one point, Pollan suggests that people who cook (regardless of class, ethnicity or background) are generally healthier than those who do not cook their food.  Using what you read in Chapter 1 of your textbook, describe (in a couple paragraphs) an experiment you could conduct to test this hypothesis.  What would your independent and dependent variables be?  What would your testing groups be?
