Conducting Needs Assessment in Program Evaluation
Needs assessment, a component of the program review process, is an initial step in program development. Like large corporations, counselors should investigate the need for a program prior to implementation. Just like the resources of a large corporation, counseling resources (e.g., clinical skills, funds, and time) need to be protected. Thus, counselors should strive to initiate programs that are clearly needed.
In this Discussion you develop a needs assessment survey. Consider what you would do if you were tasked with providing a well-being program for a staff in your specialization area (school, mental health center, etc.).
With these thoughts in mind:
Post by Day 4 a brief description of the type of counseling setting where you currently work or where you might practice as a counselor. Then, post a five item survey that you could use to determine the needs for a well-being program for the staff. Briefly explain why you selected each item for the survey.
Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references from the Learning Resources.
