PART 1
- Determine number of 8×8×16 concrete masonry block units required to complete the wall shown in the elevation and cross section below. The overhead doors are 10 feet wide by 12 feet high. If lintel blocks are required wherever the #4 horizontal bars are located and above the doors, how many plain blocks and how many lintel blocks are needed for the wall? See Problem 2 for more rebar information.
- Determine the amount of rebar needed for the CMU wall in Problem 1. In addition to the rebar shown on the wall cross section, there is one #6 rebar located at either side of the overhead doors, which extend from the bottom of the door to 12 inches above the top of the door and two #4 rebar above the doors extending 12 inches beyond the door on each side. Assume 6-feet lifts and add 12 percent for lap and waste to the horizontal bars.
- Using 3.2 cubic feet of mortar per 100 square feet of wall, determine the amount of mortar needed for the CMU wall in Problem 1.
PART 2 - Prepare a structural steel materials list for the roof-framing plan shown in the roof framing plan below. The columns are 12 feet high and weigh 76 pounds per foot. How many pounds of steel need to be purchased for this roof?
