The goal of the project is to demonstrate your understanding of a complex dynamical system. “A complex system is any system featuring a large number of interacting components (agents, processes, etc.) whose aggregate activity is nonlinear (not derivable from the summations of the activity of individual components) and typically exhibits hierarchical self-organization under selective pressures.”
Each student will research the historical aspect of one example of a system. For the project, you will determine the time period and the parameters of the system ; it’s elements and relationships, inputs and outputs , examples of complexity , particularly the concepts of emergence and entropy . You will also demonstrate your particular example’s connection to one (or more) of the Ross Spiral Mentalities: Arithmetic, Geometric, Algebraic, Dynamical or Complex Dynamical, with supporting documentation. The final product will be a research paper of 5-7 pages. The analysis of the system must include a Works Cited page to demonstrate how you accessed the information for you project.
Type of system:
The type of system you must write about is the circulatory system, that pumps blood from the heart to the lungs to get oxygen.

Types of systems:
Economic system (i.e. feudalism, capitalism, socialism, mercantilism etc.)
Political system (monarchy, democracy, totalitarianism, Fascism, military dictatorship etc.)
Social system (i.e. kinship groups, races, religious affiliations, gender, wealth categories, social classes etc.)
Transport system (i.e. trade, infrastructure, production/consumption etc.)
Biological system (i.e. ecosystem, species, predator/prey, water cycle, human body functions etc.)
Engineered system (i.e. a computer, a factory, a space ship etc.)
