Complementing a staff

Discussion respond

Your discussion response must include the following parts:
[a] A title line that has the name of the student whose discussion post you are reviewing.
Note: you may only write a discussion response to an individual student once in the term. Each week, your response must be in reply to someone you haven't previously replied to.

Below the title line, create a titled section (using the terms 'compliment,' 'comment,' etc., as your titles) and include each of the following:

[b] A Compliment – Start off positive. Compliment the person on something specific you have read or observed in their discussion post. Note a positive aspect of the student's work and then explain why that thing you're noting has positive value.
This section identifies an aspect of the discussion post that works well, that is effective.
For example: Your idea/position/observation about x was thoughtful/challenging/important because…

[c] A Comment – Comment on something relevant and meaningful that the person said. Be specific! Remember your comment might not always be agreement. You can disagree.
This section is for making an observation about a significant aspect of the discussion post.
For example: I agree with you about… or I respect your opinion, but I think … For example, …

[d] A Suggestion – Make a suggestion about something you believe is either missing or not emphasized enough in the person's post, which would, if included, strengthen the presentation of their ideas. Be specific and explain why you believe what you are suggesting will be helpful.
This section is for offering a means for improvement in some area of the discussion post.

[e] A Question – Ask a specific question about something included in the student's post.
