Coaching Principles

1) Discuss how one’s coaching philosophy underpins the way in which we develop, deliver and reflect on the sessions that we provide to our athletes. In addition, outline why it is important to reflect on your personal philosophy when working as a coach. 2) Select one stage of the LTAD model and describe how the characteristics associated with this stage would inform the way in which you deliver sessions to children in a school environment. 3) Compare and contrast the approach adopted to talent identification and development in two sports of your choosing. Your comparison must be based on models or information available on NGB websites. 4) Describe the ‘expectancy cycle’ and outline the practical implications that this model holds for a coach in a sport of your choice. 5) Explain why it is integral that a coach delivers fully inclusive sessions and provide an account of how you would integrate these principles in to your coaching practice. 6) Provide an account of the current ‘position’ that coaching holds as a professional occupation in the UK and describe the path that has been followed in the emergence of the discipline.
