Children's literature

Through the evaluation of characteristics of excellence found in children’s literature, an appreciation of styles and contributions from a variety of prominent authors and illustrators can be cultivated. By learning how to select books for children based on criteria of quality and excellence that reflects a diverse range of experiences and cultures, teachers will be able to better engage students in books, encouraging the reading process and the love of reading.

Part 1: Written Report

Provide a well-written thesis, making the argument for the author/illustrator’s importance to children’s literature.
Write a brief introduction about the author/illustrator, including at least five books that exemplify the author/illustrator’s works.
Describe specific characteristics of excellence displayed in those books.
