Child development

1 Choose one observation of a child (or children) that falls into the broad category of social cognition. Choose

an intervention to write about from which you interpolated the child’s interpretation and thinking about a social
event. This might be an observation of the child’s egocentrism, theory of mind, perspective taking, humor, or
any other topic that we will share this semester.
= Write an objective description of this event. Describe the event completely, using exact words used by
children and adults. Be cautious to be objective and clear, describing only what you saw and heard. Be sure to
describe the event thru to its conclusion.
Choose 3 ethical principles (NAEYC, 2011) that you believe to be most important for studying young children
this semester.
= For one principle, cite and explain how it directly affects you and your behavior as a lab student or how it will
influence you as a professional working with children and families this semester.
