Changes in the Human Figure in Art from Ancient to Medieval times
Order Description
This paper consist of 2 parts
The first part there are 3 images and each one should have these 3 required paragraphs:
Paragraph 1:
Discuss how each work is important within its own time period and style and explain why.
Paragraphs 2/3:
Analyze the human figure in each work. Write about what you see and think, after you have processed
the information found in the textbook, films, lectures, and internet sources.
When you look at the pictures of each work of art, answer each one of these questions; these should
be addressed in paragraphs 2 & 3 for each image.
- What does the figure look like? Is it realistic? Is it stylized or abstracted? Is it idealized?
Is it elongated? Explain why the artist chose to depict the figure in this manner.
- Is one part of the figure emphasized above others? Explain why.
-Is one figure larger than others? Explain why.
-Can you see the body of the figure through the clothes, if there are clothes? Explain why this is
important for each work of art.
-What is the context of the figure? Is the figure placed in a natural setting? Landscape? Building?
By itself? Explain why.
After the first part the conclusion is the second part
The conclusion section consists of 3 paragraphs

How does the depiction of the human figure stay the same over time? Answer this question by looking
at the 3 works of art you just wrote about, and describe similarities between the 3 works. Explain
why you think these similar details stayed the same over thousands of years.
2. Paragraph 2:
How does the depiction of the human figure change over time? Answer this question by looking at the
3 works of art you just wrote about, and describe differences in specific details. Explain why you
think artists changed the way they depicted humans over thousands of years.
3. Paragraph 3:
Explain why one of the 3 works of art is your favorite.
