Pick one of the main characters from your story and argue for how their characterization makes them
familiar to general readers, first by arguing what kind of TV show or movie he or she would star in. Do so
will hopefully universalize your response as you consider what makes the character empathetic.
To help develop your argument, define his or her character-type and argue what most creates empathy
with him or her—a specific choice made, his or her interests, his or her views of the world, and/or other
aspects of characterization. Also, how do setting and tone also play roles in understanding the familiar
characterization?
