Case analysis – ELCA and CR analysis

Part I: Do an ELCA of the following case to determine business-specific responsibilities and recommend actions to address them.

Case: ABC is a leading beverage company with operations in the US and worldwide. Its main products are various traditional soft drinks. ABC recently lost market share and faced declining sales. The company is reviewing now its strategy. It specifically aims to become more efficient and to make its products more attractive to younger customers. Part of its strategic planning is an ELCA of the soft drinks.

Instructions for Part I:

Do some research to identify potential issues in the product life cycle of a soft drink as it has traditionally been produced
Apply all four steps of the ELCA method. Make sure you always explain your claims/evaluations and also provide some data/references.
Address all stages of the product life cycle (sourcing, production, distribution, use, disposal) and discuss at least one potential ethical issue of each stage.
Provide 3 recommendations in step 4 of the ELCA. Explain how your recommendations address the ethical issues and make business sense.
Part II: Analyze the corporate responsibility (CR) activities of The Coca Cola Company and answer the following questions:

Does The Coca Cola Company address the ethical issues that you identified in the ELCA of Part I? If so, by what activities? Provide examples.
Do you consider the Coca Cola Company's CR activities as sufficient? Explain why or why not.
Discuss to what extent The Coca Cola Company's CR activities support the business success of the company.
How could The Coca Cola Company improve its CR activities? Provide two recommendations.
