What are two important organizations in your field—not businesses but organizations? (Examples: American Organization of Orthodontists, Academy of General Dentistry, and so on) Give the reader some background information on them—compelling paragraph(s).
How can you get involved in your field as a college student? Does UAA have any campus clubs that serve as organizations in your field? If not, do they appear on other college campuses? This should become a convincing paragraph about joining a club, starting a club, or finding another way to get involved in your field as a college student.
What are two important journals or trade publications? Give the reader some background information on them—compelling paragraph(s).
Will a minor be helpful for your career? There are lots of differing perspectives on this, so be sure to make your explanation logical.
(Optional) Research an upcoming professional conference. Describe the location of the conference and some of the topics it will cover. Create a travel plan as if you were actually going to attend: conference fees, airline travel costs, taxi fares, hotel room bookings, food, and so on. Since the pandemic has cancelled face-2-face conferences, this bullet point on the assignment sheet might be impossible to complete. Feel free to skip this whole bullet point but if you want to take this a different direction, you could write about a conference that is taking place in an online format--how does an online conference work? Again, this addition to the paper would be optional. Updated 07/08
