After watching a film that contains business management elements, students will complete an essay consisting of 5-7 APA formatted pages, containing well-written paragraphs that identify and analyze 3 specific management and/or leadership concepts present in the film using the concepts and theories discussed in their textbook and in the classroom. 1) Introduction (1/2 page):
a) Write about two to three sentences that allow you to discuss the three elements that you will be writing about.
b) Write a one to two sentence thesis statement that states your argument about the element. Your thesis should tell your reader what that element does for the structure of the film and/or our understanding of life.
c) Movie Synopsis (1/2 to 1 page): In a few paragraphs, write a brief summary of the entire film.
2) Main Body of Paper (3-4 pages):
a) In about 3-4 paragraphs per concept, complete the following:
i) Describe and explain the concept that you found in the film and will be providing evidence to show that it exists in the film.
ii) Pick a relevant quote or aspect from that scene, which will support your argument.
iii) Analyze the quote or aspect of that scene. Your analysis can either be your interpretation of that quote/aspect or an application to your own life.
iv) Seal off your every paragraph and concept area with one closing sentence.
3) Conclusion (1/2 page):
a) In about two sentences re-state your thesis statement. Try to re-phrase your thesis to avoid redundancy.
b) In about three to four sentences, re-mention all of your main points and scenes from body paragraph one, two, and three.
c) Write one to two sentences that leave your reader with some intelligent thoughts about the film and/or element that you wrote about.
