Currently there are a variety of smart phones available on the market, targeting different levels of budget. Unfortunately, none of these products cater to environmental concerns such as the recyclability of the phones and the ethical sourcing of raw materials. This project is sponsored by the Australian Computer Society. The aim of this project is to design a new smart phone:
whose raw materials would be sourced from ethical sources.
whose design and build would incorporate the use of recycled material.
which would be easier to recycle once it has reached end of life.
whose battery, when discarded, would not cause any environmental issues.
Currently there are no other environmentally friendly alternative solutions. All the smart phones that are currently available on the market are harmful to nature.
Potential risks and issues that might be faced are:
not having the necessary expertise.
not delivering the final product on time.
technological advances do not permit such a product
