Read BBR (Brief Bedford Reader) Chapters 1-4 in their entirety (pp. 9-64 in print version, ebook pages may vary)

  1. Read IC (In Conversation: A Writer's Guidebook) Part 1 in its entirety.
  2. Write at least five possible topics for your argument research essay. (I do not accept the following topics:
    minimum wage, abortion, gun control, climate change/global warming, payment of college sports players, AI,
    violent video games, the legalization of marijuana.) For each topic, write a short 4-5 sentence paragraph
    explaining why you chose this topic, what stance you take on the topic, and what you already know about the
    topic.
  3. In at least one paragraph, tell me about you. Include the following information: your favorite book, your
    favorite movie or TV show, an interesting fact about you, and what I need to know about you as a student.
