In the book, Love Lives Here: A Story of Thriving in a Transgender Family, Amanda Jette Knox writes of her
family’s experiences of two transgender family members acceptance because of the ability to “lead with love.”
Nurses often care for patients and the families of persons who identify as transgender or from
lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender/queer or questioning plus community (LGBTQ+). The plus may include other sexual
identities such as pansexual, asexual, and omnisexual. This goal of this assignment is to assist the student
caring for members of this and other marginalized populations in a caring, professional, and nonjudgmental manner.
