SCM 540 – Operations and Supply Chain Management Course Project – Winter 2017 “Improving Operations and Supply Chain in Production/Service Systems” Course Project Scope Statement Course Project Objective The objective of this project is to identify a business problem related with operations and supply chain management and to suggest and explain a beneficial idea so solve that problem. The project should be completed before February 18, 2017, which is the sharp deadline for the project. Project presentation should be delivered in 5 minutes in total during class time on February 15, 2017. Deliverables & Milestones Deliverable Deliverable Title Due Date Point Worth Deliverable 1 Project Presentation (presenting only the best problem and its solution, one for each group) February 15, 2017 20 points Deliverable 2 Project Report (describing one problem and its solution for each member of the group) February 18, 2017 80 points (60 individual, 20 group) Technical Requirements, Limits, Exclusions In this project, each group member should select a single operations- or SCM-related problem, come up with an elaborate solution, estimate the benefits obtained, and explain how s/he came up with that estimate of the benefits. Then these contributions by individual members will be put together all by one group members into a single report. Any individual's work should not exceed 3 pages. There can be an additional cover page is the first page of the group report. Each group member is expected to help others in the group because it is expected that every member learns from each other and learns team work. The problem should not be from the Internet or a ready case study. It should be a problem you personally observed and have a solution for. The presentation will discuss only one problem & solution for each group.
