Body and Death

Write TWO essays, in which you will compare two ethnographies (BODY AND DEATH) we have read this semester (THE LAND OF OPEN GRAVES- De Leon, Jason AND Live and Die Like a Man—Ghannam, Farha.) You will write an essay on each concept. You are supposed to write both the theoretical discussions and bring in ethnographic specifics. How do these authors define/explain/understand these terms and how do they use these concepts to make their arguments? How is it important to understand the arguments the authors make? How do the authors contribute to the anthropological discussions about that topic? How similar/different the approaches of the two authors?
