Description
STEP 1. Choose one of the following scientific findings covered in PSC 30:
• Age of the Universe: What evidence indicates that the universe is 13.7 billion
years old? • Extrasolar Planets: What is the evidence for planets around other stars?
• Water on Mars: What evidence indicates that Mars once had liquid water?
• Climate Change: What evidence indicates that humans are causing climate
change?
• Black Holes: What evidence indicates that black holes really exist?
• Big Bang: What is the evidence supporting the Big Bang theory? • Dark Matter: What is the evidence for the existence of dark matter?
STEP 2. Identify THREE sources that address the chosen scientific finding and
evaluate those sources based on biases, strengths, and weaknesses. Consider the
following:
- Search strategy: What process are you using to identify diverse sources and
why? - Credibility: Where did the source come from and who wrote it?
- Relevance: Is the information in the source recent or timely?
- Objectivity: What kind of evidence did they provide?
STEP 3. Determine how you would use those sources to support the teaching of your
chosen scientific finding to an incoming student at Butte College. Examples include
making a poster, building a website, creating a YouTube video, giving a speech, etc.
(you don’t have to create any of these things just explain how you would do it)
