Assignment: Please write a coherent, well-supported analysis of the Bayview Hospital case in response to the following questions:
- Provide a high-level summary of the case and your hypothesis for how the problem at Bayview should have been addressed (one very brief paragraph is sufficient- no more than 3-4 sentences).
- Based on your understanding of power and influence, how would you explain the Board's decision to purchase the software from Standard? Share your analysis of whether it was a good or bad decision? (1 paragraph)
- How much, and what type of, power did each of the main characters have? (Sue, Jack, the Board and Jacks friend at Standard) (1-2 paragraphs)
- What should Sue have done differently? (1 paragraph)
- Specifics: Your paper should be single-spaced with 12-point, Times Roman font, 1” margins all around, and no longer than one page in length (approximately 600 words). Papers should be uploaded in Canvas no later than the due date. Please do not include any headings on the page and do not write your name on the submission. Any deviations from this formatting requirement will reduce your score between 5 and 10 points.
- Also, to be clear, there are no make-ups and no late assignments will be accepted.
- My expectations regarding writing a paper that is "well supported" is that you provide specific evidence from the case and from the OB literature to support or justify your answer. While it is generally acceptable to share your opinion when providing a solution to the case, you must provide justification for your analysis- quantitative data, the application of theory and references to your course readings are all expected when appropriate. It is not sufficient to offer generic advice without specifically articulating why that particular recommendation is justified. It is also acceptable to reference outside material (other academic or news articles, books, other cases you may be familiar with or even your past experience if relevant) as long as those references are properly cited
- Evidence of plagiarism will not be tolerated
You may make the following assumptions when analyzing the case:
-the board is not biased
-they made their decision based on the information they were given
