As you have learned from your readings and work in Unit 3, bailments involve the right to possess an item. However, you will also recall that the rights in a bailment are limited to possession ONLY, and not any rights of ownership.
From Chapter 15 in your textbook, you have learned that there are certain types of mutual benefit bailments involve a higher degree of care than would normally be required for a mutual benefit bailment. This higher degree of care is associated with common carriers of goods or persons,
For this minor project, you are to select a common carrier of goods or persons. Once you have selected this carrier, prepare a three (3) page, double spaced, Times New Roman, 12 point font paper addressing the following issues:
1) The name of the carrier and type of goods/persons that they transport.
2) The higher degree of care associated with this carrier.
3) Relevant information regarding the business itself, including,
a. Annual revenue
b. Number of people/amount of goods transported annually
c. State/States in which this carrier is present
d. Any relevant Federal or State regulations that impact this carrier
4) Ways in which this carrier limits their liability in the event of damage to the goods, and how this limitation is communicated to the bailee/consignor/consignee.
5) Any other relevant/interesting information about this carrier.
