Prepare and deliver a well-organized oral presentation of 4-6 minutes on a topic of your choice. I am not so concerned about the topic you choose, but try to lean towards something related to business, leadership, or management. (If you are having trouble, please feel free to discuss your topic with me).
The topic should be specific enough that you can present it in useful detail. You should be somewhat familiar with your topic. Finally, it should be broad enough that it would appeal to everyone.
Your Audience: An audience of your peers — students at your level in the communications program.
Purpose: To inform. Your aim is present information clearly and effectively.
Graphics: You must prepare a PowerPoint presentation with at least four slides, plus a cover slide with your name and topic.
Evaluation Criteria: See the criteria sheet that is handed out separately.
Recording your presentation: We are remote, so you will need to record your presentation. You do not need to record yourself. What I am interested in your PowerPoint slides and how you talk to your slides. So, all you will need to do is a screengrab to record your screen and voice. There are a few ways you can do this, and you can choice what works best for you. Here are some suggestions:
• Record in PowerPoint – From the top ribbon, select Recording, then select Screen Recording. This will allow you to select your screen and record your voice.
• Screenrec - https://screenrec.com/ - This is free download and its what I use to record the lectures for classes. One you have downloaded this it is fairly prescriptive, and pretty user friendly, but please let me know if you have any questions. (NOTE: When you have completed your recording, you will get a link, you can send me that link for marking).
These two are simply suggestions. You can use any program or software you wish. You may have one in mind or find that works better for you. The only thing I ask is that I can clearly see your presentation and clearly hear your voice.
What you are handing in: Your presentation will be handed in through the Learning Hub. You must include the following:
• Your recording (this could be a file or a link if you use Screenrec)
• Your slides (Please hand in your PP slides separately).
