Assessing the conflict’s current status and possibilities for resolution.

Structure of the Paper/Project
Start with a short description of the conflict then tell the story of what led up to the current situation
considering most (but not necessarily all) of the following:
Landscape morphology
Natural resources
History of the location, its population, and economic uses of land.
How the value of land or its uses have changed and why.
The groups (“stakeholders) involved in the conflict. What are their interests? How much power do they have
to influence the outcome and why?
Trade-offs between conservation and economic development.
Meanings associated with the landscape (for different interest groups).
What property rights are involved?
Public perception of the conflict. Media coverage?
Legal cases brought or pending.
The environmental or ecological implications of the outcome.
Conclude by assessing the conflict’s current status and possibilities for resolution.
