In the first video, we see the work of Niki de Saint Phalle who is known for her shooting paintings. Which movements do you think she could be influenced by? Do you
think it's important to be present for these Happenings? Or are you more attracted to the work that is left behind as a result of these violent acts?
The second video is a current working artist, Marina Abramovic. She too, is known for creating violent performance art in her early career. But recently she has
evolved to a more intimate form of performance art. Do you think you would be willing to participate in this performance if given the chance? Rapper Jay-Z was so
inspired by her work that he did a similar performance piece in a Brooklyn gallery called Picasso Baby.
For this assignment, please discuss the evolution of performance art through comparing and contrasting the two performances. Include at least ten or more art terms in
your minimum one-page critique in order to display what you've learned so far.
