Animals and their characteristics

1.Some of the tales employ animals as characters and give them human characteristics. Make
a list of the animals & their characteristics and explore why these attributes have been assigned
to them. Then answer: why animals? Why these animals? And, how does each animal lend
itself to the story?
2.Folk Tales are confused with the genre of children’s literature (which was only invented about
200 years ago). Why would it be beneficial or important for these stories to be told? What does
this say about children’s transition to adulthood in these cultures?
What is the overall purpose, lesson, or origin 3.story for each tale? Keep in mind the growing
concerns from each region: the cultures they represent, the fear of colonization, the morals the
impart on their audience, the nature of the world around us.
4.How do these stories relate to our current era? How do these stories relate to your personal
definition of Freedom?
