One of my favorite creatures is the octopus. Octopus are believed to live before the ear of dinosaurs and have 10 limbs. Where todays octopus only have eight limbs. The vampyropod was likely the ancestor of the octopus. Octopus are unique creatures, they have three hearts, and not only do they have one brain, but they also have a mini brain pre limb. Their brain to body ratio is the largest out of any invertebrate. They are known for their camouflage abilities, but octopus also use shells as another form of protection. One thing I didn’t know but found interesting was many male octopuses lack external genitalia and instead use a modified arm, called a hectocotylus, to pass their sperm to the female (Lisa Hendry). Octopus other creatures ranging from small crabs and fish, to worms and snails. And there are many other creatures that hunt octopus for food which are humans, eels, dolphins, larger fish, seals and some whales.
