Analysis of intimate violence, issues related to the case study, service provision and policy implications

  Contemporary issues in health and social care. Learning outcomes 1. Demonstrate an understanding of the key health and wellbeing issues and current debates on contemporary topics related to health and social care. 2. Identify and demonstrate comprehensive analysis of socio-economic, political and cultural factors which influence health and wellbeing in health and social care 3. Critically appraise evidence based knowledge to analyse the complex experiences of diverse population groups and the impact it has on their lives and society in relation to relevant topics. 4. Analyse the perspectives, impact and implications of contemporary health and social care issues have on the development and provision of integrated services to cater for diverse needs of population groups. 5. Debate and develop implications on policy and practice initiatives in and across contemporary (integrated) health and social care contexts Summative assessment 3,500 words analysis of the chosen topic: including a case study, issues related to the case, service provision and policy implications (LO 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5). In relation to the case study, critically discuss issues raised under 1. Intimate violence in the UK, violence against women. Causes Theories or concepts Ethical Issues/principles such as autonomy, utilitarianism, justice. Power and Empowerment in relation to the case study. 2. Long term health conditions and discrimination. 3. Child abuse. Case study A is a 35-year-old White British woman with three sons and currently pregnant with her fourth child. A recently reported an incident of sexual abuse by her third husband who is the perpetuator. A’s first two marriages were also of an abusive nature. Both being physical, emotional and sexual in nature. A’s children were removed by social services due to issues of neglect as well as physical abuse. Following her children’s removal, A suffered from a mental breakdown and was soon diagnosed with anxiety and depression. A was then referred to the Community Mental Health Team by her General Practitioner. Soon after that, A suffered from a prolapse disc and had a care and support package in place to support her manage her day-to-day life. A generally lacks the motivation to go out into the community or engage with professionals.
