An individual’s tangible and/or activity reinforcers.

General Information
Identifying reinforcers and conducting manding sessions is a primary responsibility of a professional working with individuals with autism. Students are expected to:

? Identify an individual with a developmental disability that impacts their spontaneous
functional communication and gain consent to work with them.
? Identify the individual’s tangible and/or activity reinforcers.
? Conduct a video recorded manding session( I will do the video based on this paper) with the individual using target mands.
? Collect data on the spontaneous and prompted mands the learner emits.
? Maintain professional behavior and presentation
Deliverable
Manding Assignment deliverables will consist of a video recording ( I will do the video based on this paper) of the manding session and a completed data collection sheet of the spontaneous and prompted mands the learner emitted.

Students will submit the following:
? A link to a video recording ( I will do the video based on this paper)
? A completed data collection sheet of the spontaneous and prompted mands the learner emitted (see the sample data sheet to use).
Activity Details
The Manding Assignment will require that you work with an individual with a disability that impacts their spontaneous functional communication. You will need to gain written consent to work with the individual. You will need to conduct a reinforcer/preference assessment to identify at least 3 target items/activities that you will prompt them to communicate (either vocally, using sign language, picture exchange, or an alternative/augmentative communication device). You will then conduct a video recorded ( I will do the video based on this paper) manding session with the individual and collect data on their spontaneous and prompted mands.

Grading Procedures
A total of 100 points can be earned for the Manding Assignment.

Video Introduction ( I will do the video based on this paper)
? The target mands identified by the reinforcer assessment are stated at the beginning of the video recording.
? Each target mand is modeled for the viewing audience (e.g., the word “chip” is stated if the target mand is a vocal response stating the word “chip”; the manual sign for “play-doh” is modeled if the target mand is signing “play-doh”, etc.). 20
Manding Session
? The learning environment is arranged to allow for the instructor to have control of all items or activities.
? The instructor establishes motivation (MO) by presenting the item in front of the learner and assessing approach and contact behavior. If necessary, contrive MO by playing with the item or by making the item seem interesting.
? Prompting is provided in a timely and effective manner and use of transfer trials are offered if appropriate (within or second trial transfer).
? Reinforcement (provision of the item) is provided in a timely manner following the occurrence of the mand.

Data Collection Sheet
? Data sheet is filled out to accurately document each occurrence of a mand.
? Data sheet is legible. 20
