This is not the first paragraph of your essay, but just the "elevator pitch".

How do the authors describe the items that is your focus?
How do they use language and sytax in this specific item?
How doesthis element affect the other characters in the stories?
Focus on the question "WHY"
Why dothe characters in these examples make specific choices?
Why do the authors include this element in the stories?
What is revealed by comparting these two different elements in the two stories?
