Individual Integrative Case Analysis: Uber.
Uber is a transportation network company headquartered in San Francisco, California. Uber offers services including ride-sharing, food delivery, and bicycle-sharing. Uber is currently valued at 120 billion; operates in 785 metropolitan areas worldwide, has 100 million users with 60% market share in the United States. Uber organizational structure has been traditionally highly hierarchical with co-founder and former CEO Travis Kalanick yielding tremendous power and micromanaging the ride-hailing giant. Lack of leadership skills resulted in a series of scandals involving bullying, discrimination at the workplace, sexual harassment. Travis Kalanick had to resign as a result of these scandals. After Dara Khosrowshahi became new CEO in 2017, Uber organizational structure has been subjected to many changes since Dara took office.
The final paper will consist of identifying three areas of research discussed through this winter quarter: Social Identity, Employee Motivation/Satisfaction, and Leadership Styles. Using the rule of three it will use theories learned to analyze how Uber will sustain a workforce for which will assist in meeting its goals, clarify the How or What or Why positive factors Uber uses in sustaining employee motivation/satisfaction, and analyze the How and What leadership actions influence Uber.
