What strategies did black slaves adopt in order to survive the institution of slavery?
Look at the map of slave rebellions here (click to view (Links to an external site.)). Where were slave rebellions most likely to take place? Under which system of labor (gang labor or task labor)? What does that tell you about slaves in areas that did not tend to revolt? Were they more docile? Happier? More accepting of their situation in slavery?
